...against C4's Friday Night Dinner
Quote:
Ricky Gervais’s Life's Too Short and Channel 4's Friday Night Dinner are both up for best sitcom at this year's Rose d'Or international TV awards.

They are up against Israel’s Tall And Greenbaum, about a small-scale wedding video producuction company.

In the comedy section, Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror episode The National Anthem, which depicted the Prime Minister having sex with a pig live on TV to secure the release of a kidnapped princess, competes with Belgium's What If? and Israel's The Saddest Sketch Show In The World.

The winners of the awards, which took a break last year, will be announced on May 10 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Also announced today are the nominees in the Royal Television Society Award.

Fresh Meat, Phoneshop and Rev are all in the running for best scripted comedy.

While Fresh Meat’s writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, and Rev’s creators James Wood & Tom Hollander are up against Friday Night Dinner’s Robert Popper for the comedy writer award.

Up for the comedy performance award are Darren Boyd for Spy, Tom Hollander for Rev and Russell Tovey and Sarah Solemani jointly for Him & Her.

James Corden and Keith Lemon are up for best entertainment performance for hosting Sky’s A League Of Their Own and ITV2’s Celebrity Juice respectively, where they face competition from Ant & Dec.

In other categories, Sky 1 sitcom Modern Family is in the running for the international award; An Idiot Abroad is nominated in the popular factual category and Daniel Rigby for best male actor for his role as the young Eric Morecambe in the Eric & Ernie biopic, which is up for best scripted drama.

Winners of these will be announced on March 20.

How did LTS get nominated for an award, it flopped in the UK and I am sure it will do the same in America. I am shocked.

I am sure some will tell be how brilliant it was but sorry when I watched it I saw a dwarf with all the mannerisms and characteristics of Ricky Gervais being subjected to self degrading scenes in a hope that people will see it as funny and like 2 million other people who watched the 1st, I didn't watch the 3rd and consecutive ones either.
