First saw Tony do his second ever gig - 2 mins at Stand-up 150 where he had some nice lines, but was a bit nervous. Then he did a set at Essex Uni last November. Saw him last night and I have to say that he is getting so good and has obviously put a lot of work into his set! Really likeable stage presence , some truly audacious punnery and really incredibly relaxed.
*edit. And he's the first comic to say "cunt" at the Coggeshall Comedy Club (at the end of his set as he pointed out). [laugh]
And I like his tractorboy fleece (awaits arrival of "fashion policeman" Vincent).

A very funny man who has become very professional at his craft very quickly.
Treat him with suspicion and whatever you do, don't talk to him about any game-show concepts you may have thought of. _________________ What! No lezzas?? |

Tony Cowards is an amiable stage presence with a good line in puns and profanities. Also (I know this is meant to be irrelevant) a jolly nice bloke. _________________ You fill me with inertia... |

| had tony up in liverpool on thurs 21st, first time i'd ever saw him. he done really really well! i tend to stare at the audience when the comics are on stage and his material got a great response! and he'd had some very funny stuff about the long journey up north so he's a fast writer too! (unless it was all an evil plot to look that way.....but i'd like to think he wrote the material on the way and mike belgrave told me so and i believe him!) [biggrin] |

Seen him compering a few times now. Deceptively quick wit with a nice laid-back, likeable, cuddly "every bloke" style that has all audiences on his side.
yes we run a gig together - but objectively I would book him anyhow as a reliable, solid act. So ner! _________________ "Apparently genuine" - Chortle |

Has done two Comedy Bar gigs at both venues now, and has gone down really well, both as an MC and doing a set.
Friendly, funny and a very likeable act, the audience seemed to go with him, even if he did forget a joke
And yes, a very nice bloke

Very funny, and is growing in stature and ability as his confidence increases.
A complete bastard off-stage though. :wink _________________ Beyond Good And Evil

I agree totally. I hadn't seen Tony compere for a while, but this Sunday I was very impressed with his style. It wasn't a massive crowd by any means, but he got all of them warmed up nicely with his friendly banter. Made it such a pleasure to play.
I would definately recommend booking Tony as a compere _________________ Now with added Stand-up

There is no end to Tony's talent! Last night he wowed the audience with a near pitch perfect rendition of "Walking in the Air" - to which he rather spookily appeared to know all the words.
Is this a regular party piece Mr C? Next time I'm requesting "Ava Maria"! _________________ "Apparently genuine" - Chortle |

I saw Tony for the first time in about two years on Saturday at a packed Goats Tavern.
My word, hasn't he come a long way? He always had a way with a joke, but now he has some truely cracking stuff and a warm stage presence that draws the audience in. He is totally believeable when talking about his own life, and very funny with it. Also a very capable ad-libber.
Looking forward to seeing him some more soon. Check him out and book him. _________________ www.piccadillycomedy.co.uk |
