Big plans for Saturday nights
Quote:
Lee Mack could be the next star of Saturday night prime-time, if a new pilot show takes off.

The comic is fronting a new trial entertainment show for BBC One, provisionally titled Lee Mack's All Star Cast, with an eye for a full series in 2011.

The show promises a mix of stand-up, guests, games and music – plus a closing sketch in which members of the audience will perform. Mack will be joined by a non-comic co-host to help him select the volunteers.

A pilot is being made by Avalon at BBC Television Centre just before Christmas, with Catherine Tate among the guests,

Earlier this year, Mack said: ‘I'm trying to get my own variety series off the ground, which I'm doing a pilot for. It's early doors and I don't know what it is yet, but basically it's a variety show with a bit of stand-up and sketches.’

Mack is currently doing the rounds to promote his new stand-up DVD Going Out, while a fourth series of his sitcom Not Going Out is expected to air shortly.

To be in the audience for the All Star Cast pilot, which will not be broadcast, see our free tickets page.
