I'm surprised that there have been no reviews of this as yet. I must admit to being slightly intrigued by the advert for it with the eyebrows sketch but didn't get chance to see it on the night. I did catch a bit of the repeat and did see more of the same sketch and I must admit that they really seemed to explore that particular idea, thoroughly explored it in fact. Nothing quite like watching a punchline repeated quite a few times. I also remember a bit of them running on stage but one was wearing her pants. The banter seemed so natural and not at all contrived that I immediately came over all 'Horne and Corden' and switched off.

Was I too quick to judge? Should I have waited longer?

No, you weren't too quick to judge. I watched 15 mins of the first episode and then had to switch off.
Uninteresting and uninventive. The banter between them at the start of the show was cringeworthy. In brief, it stunk of a very poor Little & Large parody.
Presumably a BBC researcher 'discovered' them as they performed a hilarious 50 minutes in Edinburgh. The real world of comedy is a bit different, as this show proves.

It was appalling. Why no one stopped the filming at some point to save the money God only knows.

Maybe I should watch one for a better slant on it. I'm only curious as they seem to have had some damn successful Edinburgh shows. Could it be an example of corporate interference?

It might be getting better, or my expectations may have got lower each week. It's nearly funny enough, although it is very showy offy 6th form girlish, but not in the good way

Robert Popper really likes them and has been pushing for them and the BBC gave them a year to develop their show so I don't think its interference.

Maybe their comedy doesn't translate well to screen but from their interview they appear to have had a fuckload of help and still created something nobody is excited about.

I watched a couple. Not for me.

I know they're a double act and they have to start the show somehow but it always bugs me when the fat/tall/short/Welsh/ugly/pretty/brainy one comes out first and starts talking about 'starting the show with a bang' and a minute later the thin/short/tall/Irish/pretty/ugly/thick one comes out with the Coldstream Guards.

'But you said 'start the show with a band''.

Doooohhhh!

What's the first rule of comedy Spike?

If you're going to be the 'new' Little and Large (who were perfectly fine by the way. Saw them live many a time and always, well often at least good value for money) then that's fine but if you're not then at least try and turn that corny opening up to 11 or turn it on it's head.

I didn't have a clue what the John Barrowman dance routine was. It just looked like they'd said 'let's have a John Barrowman thing on our show.'

Which is fair enough I suppose.

It's their show.

Best of luck to 'em.
