But more watch an old Peter Kay show...
| Quote: | Just over two million viewers tuned in to Rick Gervais’s new show Derek last night – above the average audience for Channel 4 at the time.
1.9million watched at 10pm, almost 25 per cent up on the slot average, with another 246,000 watching on the +1 channel an hour later.
Meanwhile, Russell Howard’s Good News returned for its sixth season on BBC Three, winning a more-than healthy 850,000 viewers – more than twice the average for the 9pm slot. he figure was in line with the 882,000 average audience the fifth series won last year.

I wonder how many of those 2 mil that tuned into Derek managed to watch the whole 30 minutes? I definitely didn't manage it. _________________ If you don't see the funny side of it then you just haven't gotten over it yet! |

I'm no fan of Ricky Gervais. A few years ago, if was almost impossible to move past the front page of chortle for articles about him I think 5 was the record. See link

It was getting tedious.
But got to say I recorded Derek, as now I'm a year away from 50 I find it hard to stay awake after 8pm. And it was brilliant. Really brilliant. I wonder if the yanks will like it, no bonnets or Hugh Grant, he may have shot himself in the foot USA wise. Their loss our gain. I hope. _________________ “Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares?... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!”

I think it had the potential to be brilliant but didn't quite reach it. I put that down to cramming too much into such a short time slot. That said overall I enjoyed it. _________________ Revealing the awful truth about lefty-liberalism... |

Yeah, I enjoyed it but all the characters were given the sort of story arcs you'd expect over a series of The Office or Extras over the course of 30 minutes.
Was this a pilot or a one off? If it's a pilot where does it go from here? If it's a one off, why? _________________ You Must Be Joking winner, 2011
