Frankie to host C4 showcase
Quote:
Frankie Boyle is to front a one-off cutting-edge cabaret show for Channel Four.

The Boyle Variety Performance will air in August as part of a season of comedy pilots dubbed Funny Fortnight.

It will be filmed in a London theatre and ‘feature content so cutting-edge and scurrilously funny that no self-respecting royal would dream of attending’.

Other shows in the season include:

A new panel show from Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer called Lucky Sexy Winners which, like Shooting Stars, will mix sketches with a subverted format.

Sketch show Them From That Thing featuring The Inbetweeners’ Blake Harrison, Fonejackers Kayvan Novak, Smack The Pony’s Sally Phillips and Very Important People impressionist Morgana Robinson.

A futuristic sitcom from Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton, creators of Outnumbered and Drop The Dead Donkey, called Just Around The Corner.

Harry Hill hosting what it merely billed as a ‘reunion programme’

A new show from Father Ted co-creator Arthur Mathews, called Toast Of London.

A screening of Peter Kay’s latest stand-up tour.

Channel 4 head of comedy Shane Allen said:’Funny Fortnight is a chance to celebrate our achievements with a raft of new shows featuring many of the biggest names in British comedy.’

If he is filming a cutting edge comedy show in August I would have thought he should film it in an Edinburgh theatre rather than London theatre.
