Do reviewers tend towards one" man" shows rather than line up shows ..Is there a minimum length to be considered for awards etc ?

please/thanks

For us, simple compilation shows are way down the list, as we could see comics do sets anywhere at any time, so the hundreds of shows created just for Edinburgh - whether they be stand-up, sketch or some sort of creative collaboration more than 3x20mins sets - will take priority.

50mins is the minimum show time for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards

It will diminish it but if you send your show info, time, dates, venue, price we will list it on Chortle and you'll be on our radar (this doesn't guarantee a review though)

The very first Edfringe show we ever saw was Jim Barclay in 1984. He hadn't got himself into the programme and drew us in through flyering alone. In this corporate age I am delighted to hear anyone is being as true to the Spirit Of The Fringe as that today.

He wasn't, I would imagine, desperate for reviews. In fact, thinking it over, I can't imagine what he was expecting. What does any of us want by doing an Edinburgh show? Could it be the answer is the same in 2012 as it was in 1984? Quite possibly. In which case, let us assume the outcome will be the same. Jim Barclay's done alright since then: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0054059/

Yes but how many Fringe comedy shows were there in 1984 compared to 2012. I don't think the Fringe of ten years ago is comparable to today's Fringe in terms of size and competition let alone the Fringe of 28 years ago

I'm naive enough to believe the fringe is a great thing to do for its own sake. Enjoy your show, worrying about awards and other things beyond your control is a waste of energy.

Also, 50 minutes is a good rule. Even the very best shows could benefit from ending nice and early, and the worst shows, no one ever said 'That show was shit, and not long enough.'
