Saw Jin performing at only his 15th gig last night in Worcester, has some quirky and funny material and if he carries on at this rate he will become very good very quickly.
Funny guy, great relaxed delivery with some nice twists in his stuff.
Def book him.

Bloody hell Nik, thanks very much! It's incredibly nice to have such a funny feller giving me praise, I'm seriously chuffed. I've said on a post before that I was terrified of Chortle when I first started posting, the more nice, funny people I seem to meet the less I fear it.

Thanks to Nik for his kind words, on here and by email. Meeting chaps like himself and Okse last night in Worcester at Mahinder's very lovely gig makes me remember why I love doing what I do. Which is loosely called "comedy".

Cheers! I thought I'd be waiting another couple of years to see my name as a topic. Without the words "arrested", "molesting" and "falcons" next to it, anyway.

Jim Smallman is a very good comedian, with some really clever and surprising material (it's hard to be origional these days!). He is also a thoroughly nice guy and I wholeheartedly recommend you book him.

Jim you are welcome back at The comedy Box any time Laughing

Some nicely written material, confrontational and quick on his feet. Has the ability to mock an audience without causing offence, and shows a commendable swagger for such a new comic.

Keep at it Jim!

Oh yeah, and he designs a cracking pair of sneakers 'n all!

Saw Jim for the second time last night and thought he has really come on. He was decent when I saw him the first time, but last night in Derby he was very good.

did the charlote leicester in his company last friday (no audience )
seen him again at the gong show ( room busting with paying public)
Hes funny hes charming hes on time hes modest in his off stage demure .
but what motivates this post is his consistencey having seen him play
in so short time period two such different venues (up to 7 versus more than 70) i was impressed with the subtle ajustment of stance and delivery that supplied equal and abundant appreciation from both audience (although the 7 strong audience at the charlot did struggle
to make their approval known over the nivana tribute band playing
on the floor below)

Did a gig in Kidderminster with Jim on Monday. Very impressive considering he's not been doing it that long. Funny, intelligent, and the audience warmed to him immediately. And he's a nice chap. Pig

Just saw Jim for the 4th time, and was honestly impressed to see how his act has developed. First saw him last summer doing one of his first gigs, and he had good jokes. Now, he has good jokes, good delivery and looks confident. Obviously been putting the work in.

I saw Jim rip it up last night in Burton. Cool, confident – his timing and punchlines had them wrapped around his little finger. At first I thought his material was all sex and hack, however I couldn’t be more wrong - the jokes are crafted with depth and meaningful analysis. So there. I’ve booked him for The Hilarity House and glad I did. A downside – he thinks the best band in the world is The Clash. Well, he didn’t see The Ramones live at The Apollo Manchester in 1979.

Im a fan

except that he keeps besting me in comps and occassional gongs

last night was no exception

being considered by the judges to have only Andy Kind
for equal on the night

this reflected the general opinions in comic corner

Jim is just a lovely stage personna

I say is because thats the real him
no force the pace, wip up the excitement
just a nice lad laying down well stuctured gags
in an im not even trying way

irresistable really

Cheers Billy. Although I must admit it's a mystery as to how I managed to finish first last night along with Andy Kind - he blew me away, as he was superb. As ever. I didn't have a good one really, felt nervous. But even if I'd have been on top form, I wouldn't have been able to best Andy.

Hang on, I'll go and post this in his thread.

And thanks to everyone who says nice things, it means a lot to me.

Awww.

Did a gig with Jim at the Leicester Comedy Festival last night. He was ace. A fantastic act and the audience loved him.

Saw Jim in the wonderful Holywell last night.

I would recommend him based on the originality to his act. Well-written material all round.

Have gigged with Jim a few times now, and last night he performed at my gig in Shrewsbury.

It's a given from previous posts that the lad is good. What impresses me most is the way in which he delivers his material with just the right amount of attitude....by which I mean enough to give the material bite but not so much as to lose more conservative audiences. Oh, and a trifling point I know, but he's funny.
